Life before packages: big monolith deployments and spaghetti code. Motivation to go with DX packages. The plan: two approaches. The real story: went live with more than 20 packages. Our feedback:- Working with cutting edge technologies has its pros and cons – Complete redesign of the code and dev ops maturity required – Difficult and long ramp up for developers – Don’t put everything in packages – Still a long journey ahead. If we were to start the project over again, would we do it differently?

Over the years, after seeing numerous small & large projects, I tend to think that Salesforce is an excellent platform for building monsters. It’s so easy to just add new features, implement business requirements in so many different ways that eventually you end up with a “Big Ball of Mud” rolling down the hill.
